Stromanthe sanguinea is a member of the Marantaceae, the prayer-plant family, whose species are tropical understory plants adapted to warmth, even moisture, and dappled light beneath a canopy. Give it bright indirect light and keep the mix lightly and evenly moist, watering when the top inch is approaching dry; avoid both standing water and full drying. It favors elevated humidity and will brown at the leaf margins in dry indoor air.
