Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026These are the terms for using Horta. They’re short on purpose — using Horta means you agree to them.
What Horta is
Horta is a plant care record linked to physical tags — stakes and planters with a code you scan. The core of Horta is free: keeping records, logging care, setting reminders, sharing a plant’s card if you choose to.
Your account
You need a working email address to create an account. Keep your password to yourself — what happens under your account is yours. One person, one account; you must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
Claiming a tag
An unclaimed tag belongs to whoever claims it first — that’s the point of buying one. Once claimed, the tag and its plant record are yours. Tags can change hands later, but only with the current owner’s say-so.
Your content
Your plant records, notes, and photos are yours. When you turn sharing on for a plant, you give us permission to show its public card to anyone with the link — that’s what sharing means. Turn it off and the card goes with it.
Don’t upload anything you don’t have the right to, or anything unlawful or harmful. We can remove content or close accounts that abuse the service or other people.
Physical products
Tags, stakes, and planters bought at a market or shop are physical goods — questions about the physical item go to wherever you bought it. The digital record the tag unlocks is covered by these terms.
The honest legal part
Horta is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it fast and reliable, but we can’t promise it will never be down or never lose data — keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect damages, and our total liability is limited to what you’ve paid us.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, we’ll say so on this page with a new date — and for significant changes, we’ll tell you directly.
