Guide

The species-level account. Cultivar pages build on this and say where they differ.

Soleirolia soleirolii is a low, mat-forming subshrub from the shaded, damp rock crevices and stream banks of the western Mediterranean islands. Its fine, shallow roots and dense foliage dislike drying out fully, so water when the top half-inch of mix is just beginning to feel dry, keeping it evenly moist but never waterlogged. It wants bright indirect light and steady humidity rather than direct sun, which scorches its delicate leaves.
