Guide
The species-level account. Cultivar pages build on this and say where they differ.
Sedum ternatum is a succulent subshrub native to shaded, rocky woodland slopes and stream banks across eastern North America, so unlike many sedums it tolerates less intense light and slightly more moisture than its desert relatives. Give it bright indirect light and gritty, fast-draining mix, and water only when the top inch or two of soil has gone dry. As a succulent it stores water in its leaves and rots if left sitting wet, so err toward the dry side.
