Paphiopedilum insigne is a slipper orchid in the Orchidaceae, typically grown in a fast-draining bark-based mix rather than dense soil. It has no water-storing pseudobulbs, so it wants even, light moisture and should never sit soggy; water when the top of the mix has approached dryness but before it is bone dry.
