Pandanus utilis is a coastal screwpine tree from the Mascarene Islands, built for warm, bright conditions and well-draining soil. It tolerates strong light and can take some direct sun once established, but bright indirect light is the safe indoor choice. Let the top inch or two of mix dry before watering, as its island-coast roots resent sitting soggy.
