Livistona chinensis is the Chinese fan palm, a subtropical tree native to China, Taiwan, and the Japanese islands. It tolerates bright indirect light indoors and prefers a free-draining mix that approaches dryness between waterings; water when the top inch or two of mix is dry, and never leave it standing in water. As a slow palm it resents soggy roots, so hedge toward the drier side.
