Guide

The species-level account. Cultivar pages build on this and say where they differ.

Haworthia cymbiformis is a small rosette-forming succulent from the Cape Provinces of South Africa, where it grows in gritty, fast-draining soil under the partial shade of rocks and other plants. Its fleshy leaves store water, so let the mix dry out completely and water only when the soil is dry well below the surface and the leaves begin to look slightly less plump. Give it bright indirect light rather than harsh direct sun, and plant it in a gritty, sharply draining mix to avoid rot.
