Ananas comosus is a terrestrial bromeliad that forms a rosette of stiff, fibrous leaves and tolerates dry spells better than constant wet. Give it bright indirect light and a gritty, free-draining mix, watering only when the top inch or two of mix has gone dry. It rots if left sitting in saturated soil, so err toward letting it approach dryness between waterings.
