Guide
The species-level account. Cultivar pages build on this and say where they differ.
Aechmea blanchetiana is a Brazilian epiphytic bromeliad that grows perched on other surfaces, so its roots anchor more than they feed and rot quickly if left sitting wet. Give it bright indirect light and a fast-draining, airy mix, and water only when the top inch or two of mix has gone dry. As a tank bromeliad it can hold a little water in its central cup; if you use the cup, keep it shallow and flush it occasionally to prevent stagnation.
